Enterprise Ireland Seeking Venture Capital Funding Co-investors
The final €20 million of the Enterprise Ireland Seed and Venture Capital Programme 2007-2012, which had a total value of €175 million, has been made available for co-investment in seed and venture capital funds. The programme has already committed around €155 million to 11 seed and venture funds. These 11 funds have more than €630 million under management for investment in early stage and growing companies. Enterprise Ireland is now inviting applicants for the last €20 million in the fund and is seeking co-investors with access to private sector and institutional capital in Ireland and overseas to support Irish innovative companies.
Consultation on Entrepreneurship 2020 Action Plan
The European Commission is consulting on measures to boost entrepreneurship across Europe.
New companies represent the most important source of new jobs - creating 4.1 million new jobs every year in Europe. Yet whilst only 11% of European citizens are entrepreneurs, 45% would like to be their own boss. To unlock this enormous potential for jobs and growth, the European Commission intends to launch a European Entrepreneurship Action Plan in autumn 2012 to boost entrepreneurship at all levels. Europe needs more entrepreneurs.

Enterprise Ireland Clustering Programme Pilot Launched
A new €2 million programme to entice businesses to develop innovation clusters has been launched by Enterprise Ireland.
Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Minister Richard Bruton, TD, has launched a new €2 million programme, with the aim of getting businesses that are serviced by enterprise development agencies in Ireland to collaborate to improve their competitive advantage.
Accelerate Management Development Programme
The County and City Enterprise Boards’ new management development programme is designed to help Ireland’s small businesses accelerate their growth prospects.
Through a series of specially-designed modules and one-to-one mentoring sessions, hundreds of small business owners all over the country are expected to learn new management, leadership and business skills to carry over to their own companies. ‘Accelerate’, which is based on international best practice and is delivered over a six-to-nine month period, is being rolled out across all the County and City Enterprise Board areas, following a successful pilot programme staged in 2011.
